CASA MODICO IS OUR BRAZILIAN HOME.

WE NEEDED A HOUSE, WE SHAPED A HOUSE IN ITS ESSENCE.

IT SOON BECAME A PLACE TO WELCOME OUR FRIENDS AND GUESTS.

We are Atelier Branco ( www.atelierbranco.com ): the commitment and the architect of this unique lonely and silent house.

Our home was build for the only reason that we needed a place to stay in São Miguel do Gostoso (RN), Brazil. We needed a roof and we translated this need to the essence of a beach house. Sometimes we use it for work sometimes for leisure. In both situations, it functions as an essential and spartan way of living, and we wished to share it with whoever comes to visit.

THE HOUSE

CASA MODICO HAS A SYMMETRIC PLAN: 4 ROOMS IN TWO BLOCKS AND ONE PATIO.

THE USE OF THE HOUSE IS BEATED BY THE WIND FROM THE MORNING IN THE KITCHEN TILL THE STARS RISE AT NIGHT ON THE FRONTAL DECK.

YOU CAN REVIVE THE MEMORY OF THE OLD FISHERMEN’S HOUSES, WHILE THE MINIMALISM OF CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE HIGHLIGHTS THE SPACE’S SIMPLICITY.

Block 1. The traditional house shape holds the living area, with a huge central sofa to observe the ocean and the landscape. Two symmetrical ensuite bedrooms are located at each side of it, in a calm and cool atmosphere with a view to the surrounding nature.. The deck in front of this block works as podium over de garden, with two steps towards the sea.

Patio. Located in-between the two blocks the central patio hosts a 7m long wooden table. Placed to enjoy in a shadowed environment the most social of the activities, invites guests to slow down, encouraging serenity and togetherness.

Block 2. A fully equipped kitchen to prepare meals is the main character of this space, where cooking can became a ritual. Also placed at each side of it, two identical ensuite bedrooms with the same atmosphere as the first block.

Casa Modico has also a small vegetable garden and a fire to cook at night that faces the beautiful landscape behind the house.

CASA MODICO IS LOCATED IN SÃO MIGUEL DO GOSTOSO, ONE HOUR NORTH FROM NATAL. IT IS ONE OF BRAZIL’S FINEST DESTINATIONS TO ENJOY THE BEACH AND THE NATIVE NATURE. WORLDWIDE FAMOUS FOR ITS WINDY COAST, PERFECT FOR KITE SURFERS AND SPORTS LOVERS.

It is integrated on the Sitio São Pedro, an active fazenda, with a private access from the RN-221. The beach in front of the house is one of the best points to kite surf of the region.
